Slow burn

You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

I’m a late starter.

After 70 years of scrabbling around, I’ve finally worked it out!

I used to wonder what my life was all about, what purpose one grain of sand on the beach could possibly have. Well, now I know.

It’s not what you think either, you’d be surprised if you knew. The thing is, I’m not sure if this is the time and place to tell you all.

So I’m going to keep this little gem close to my chest for a while, my joker in the pack, so to speak.

It was worth the wait though, and this tiny speck now sees its purpose and position on the beach of life.

Another day waiting won’t hurt to tell you. It’s been 70 years, so why rush? I want to savour my secret a little longer. The clue is in the first line of this blog, and that’s all you’re getting…….
