What’s your favorite cartoon?

Having been booted off one social media app already, I didn’t want to incur the wrath of Warner Bros with an unlicensed screenshot of the famous cat and mouse duo.

With my luck I’d end up having my ass sued.

So you’ll have to be satisfied with a recreation of one of my favourite cartoons. Not just any old Tom & Jerry though, the original Fred Quimby ones. The artwork is classic.

Each one in the 40’s took a time of 3–6 months per episode (4–8 minutes) to make. All hand drawn, no computers. Later ones took a matter of a few weeks but they are poor representations of the classic originals.

I get my fix on YouTube these days, the slapstick violence, the facial expressions, the timing, the artwork, all are exquisite.

Although Tom & Jerry are my favourites, there are many from around the 40’s that I love. Foghorn Leghorn, Daffy Duck, Goofy, the list is pretty long, but the quality of the artwork was superb in the early cartoons.

I’m a bit of a cartoonist myself and as a teenager spent hours trying to copy the styles, some were good, others, well, let’s leave it there.
