What’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make? Why?

Is it me, or are the questions getting harder to answer? I reckon the hardest decision was always the easiest.
I emigrated back in the 90’s, some thought me crazy. I sold my business for peanuts and moved to Southern Spain. It was a big decision but also the easiest, a no-brainer.
I had a really bad fall in the French Alps and it shook me up, made me stop and look at myself and what I was doing with my life. So by the time I finally crawled out of hospital, I had made a huge decision which was actually the easiest to make.
I think a hard decision is often only made difficult because we know deep inside what is right or wrong for us. We know the right course of action to take, we just have to put the brave pants on and take it. After that it’s easy.
Since that fateful day when I almost died in the mountains, every decision has been easy. I follow my inner feelings. Does it make me happier? If it’s a yes, then do it. Am I hedonistic? Probably.
Some of the hardest decisions are because we are worried about the opinions of others, what our closest friends will think. Remember that you’re the one who has to live with a decision, nobody else. After a day, it will be forgotten, you’ll be on your new path, and those who want to be will still be there with you. The others? Well that’s the collateral damage. If you’re happier, that’s the most important thing. You can’t live your life trying to make others happier with your decisions.
So to coin a phrase from the sixties:
“If it feels good, do it.”
