Led Zeppelin

What makes you feel nostalgic?

Crazy but it’s true….

The crackle of the needle on vinyl, that opening guitar riff. For me it was the start of my teenage years. Late sixties early seventies. My first band, girlfriend, cigarette and beer. I did it all and smoked some weird stuff too. Getting high in the Wimpy Cafe smoking weed before anyone knew what it was. “That cigarette smells funny son…”

This album more than any other brings back floods of memories. There were others, but this one heralded the dawn of rock. I should have ditched the clarinet and taken up guitar or bass, I’d have been driving a Roller now and living in a mansion.

Things picked up when I discovered the saxophone though. I enjoyed a lot of back line work on soul and funk stuff, (Jazz never paid), but it only took a track from that album to take me back there—to those early teenage years when everything was shiny and new—pick up that air guitar guys!
