Camino by Marcus Goldworthy

Daft question to ask an author.

Of course I’ve read this book the most times, at least a dozen. From initial draft to proofreading. It’s not all typing and screwing up balls of paper to chuck in the waste bin…well not all the time.

Which book have you read more than any other?

I never really intended to write another book, but it happened, somehow. I blame this priest chap, who read my diary about walking the Camino and it’s gone from there. He suggested it would be a great story. I bet he’s laughing his heavenly cassock off now as he passed on before the first book was written. Thanks mate.

So the schoolboy journal became a documentary and that became my first full-blown novel, Camino. A fictional tale of myself as a Franciscan friar walking the 13th Caminos of Europe.

It didn’t stop there, I’m now finishing off book 5. My pen is cooling off but Book 6 has already reared its ugly head. We’re off to Cologne to find out who has stolen the contents and jewels from the Shrine of the Three Kings. Based on a true event that took place in the 16th century. Sort of….should be fun, I’m getting excited about writing about some old bones already.

Have a read—hundreds of others have now, it’s humbling that people are reading my book several times a day across the world.

All the fault of that darned priest suggesting I write a book….well there are worse things I could have done, I suppose.
