What were your parents doing at your age?
I’m 70. My mother is still alive. My father died at 93. We tend to live disgustingly long lives in my family, At 70 they were doing exactly the same as me, enjoying retirement.
Unless I fall under a bus, I expect to enjoy a few more years yet. We enjoy a better quality of life with each generation apparently.
I’d seen somewhere that life expectancy had stalled due to poor lifestyle choices such as lack of exercise and too many take-aways. This won’t happen to me as my nearest fast food outlet is 10 miles away, and nobody delivers junk food so far from civilisation.
My education is better than my parents, and my views on society as a whole are more liberal.
That’s all I can really say on the question of what my parents were doing at my age.
As we get older, our lifestyles shrink and we’re not so socially active, so our lives are pretty similar. Nothing wrong with that, it’s part of getting older. We’re more content and relaxed. So we’re not so different now.
